OUR PILLARS

The Federation operates based on eight substantive pillars. Together, they form the foundation of our commitment to representation, connection, and sustainable development within the Afro-diaspora.

1. Legal Status & Equality

Our federation wants to actively commit to tackling this inequality. We do this by:

Legal Status & Equality are central to the Federation Afro Diaspora Network. We believe that every person has the right to equal opportunities, regardless of ancestry, skin color, or background. Unfortunately, many members of the Afro community worldwide still experience forms of discrimination, marginalization, and inequality.

  • Putting discrimination and racism on the agenda of societal and political discourse

  • Promoting equal access to education, employment, and social participation.

  • Supporting initiatives and projects that contribute to social justice and equal treatment.

  • Collaborating with organizations and institutions committed to human rights and inclusion.

We strive for a society where justice, respect, and equal opportunities are the norm – not the exception. By joining forces within our network, we can amplify the voice of the Afro-diaspora and take concrete steps towards a world without discrimination and with room for everyone's talent.

2. Care, Health and Well-being

Central to this pillar is promoting inclusion, well-being, equal opportunities, and social cohesion. The federation aims to be a safety net and support point for the Afro-diaspora by collaborating with civil society organizations, welfare institutions, and community projects. We are committed to combating exclusion and discrimination, and working towards a society where everyone counts. By connecting the Afro-community worldwide, we not only strengthen social cohesion but also contribute to greater equality and well-being.

3. Education, Knowledge Development, Innovation & Technology

By making culture visible and passing it on to future generations, we strengthen the connection within the community and raise awareness beyond the diaspora. In this way, we are building a future in which our history, traditions, and creativity continue to be valued.

The Afro Diaspora Network Federation is committed to the preservation, promotion, and transmission of African and Afro-diaspora heritage. Our culture is rich, diverse, and powerful, a source of identity and pride. We want to keep this heritage alive through events, educational programs, art, and documentation.

4. International Representation & Networks

The Afro-diaspora is present worldwide, and therefore this pillar focuses on building international networks and platforms. Through exchange programs, conferences, and collaborative projects, we aim to strengthen ties between diaspora communities in various countries. Our ambition is to make the Afro-community internationally visible and influential, and to be a voice on global issues. Cross-border cooperation enables us to pool knowledge, resources, and experiences, thereby forming a stronger collective.

5. Social & Societal Well-being

The Federation is committed to strengthening social and societal well-being within Afro-diaspora communities. We focus on promoting social cohesion, resilience, and livelihood security, with attention to themes such as poverty reduction, housing, safety, participation, and equal access to services.

Through collaboration with civil society organizations, local authorities, and communities, we identify bottlenecks, put structural issues on the agenda, and contribute to sustainable solutions. In doing so, the Federation acts as a connecting link between policy and the lived world, with the aim of enabling everyone to participate fully in society.

6. Cultural Heritage & Identity Knowledge Centre

The Afro Diaspora Network Federation is committed to the preservation, promotion, and transmission of African and Afro-diaspora heritage. Our culture is rich, diverse, and powerful – a source of identity and pride. We want to keep this heritage alive through events, educational programs, art, and documentation.

By making culture visible and passing it on to future generations, we strengthen the connection within the community and raise awareness beyond the diaspora. In this way, we are building a future in which our history, traditions, and creativity continue to be valued.

7. Economic Development & Entrepreneurship

The federation aims to actively support entrepreneurship within the diaspora. We believe that economic strength is essential for independence and sustainable progress. Therefore, we are committed to increasing access to markets, financing opportunities, and partnerships.

In addition, we encourage innovative projects and start-ups, and provide platforms to share knowledge and connect entrepreneurs. This creates a strong economic network that generates opportunities for current and future generations.

8. Political and Social Participation

The Political & Social Participation pillar focuses on increasing the influence and representation of the Afro-diaspora in policy processes and decision-making. Too often, the voice of our community is not heard sufficiently, even though our contribution to society is of great value.

The Federation Afro Diaspora Network wants to change this by:

To actively work on awareness and empowerment, so that more people from the community dare and are able to speak out.

  • Promoting participation in political and societal debate at local, national, and international levels.

  • Supporting initiatives that promote the representation of the Afro community in councils, boards, and policy-making bodies.

  • Developing collaborations with policymakers and institutions to give the voice of the diaspora a structural place.

We believe that real progress is only possible when the Afro-community itself is at the table where decisions are made. By joining forces, we increase the visibility, influence, and impact of the diaspora in the social and political spheres.
