Federation Afro Diaspora Network Pays Official Visit to the Surinamese Embassy
Amsterdam, 8 May 2026
On Thursday, 7 May 2026, the Federation Afro Diaspora Network conducted a constructive official visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Suriname, where the delegation was received by the Ambassador of Suriname, His Excellency Mr. Ricardo Panka.
During the meeting, the introduction of the Federation and its objectives formed the central focus of the discussion. The Federation emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and combining strengths within the Afro community. According to the Federation, unity is essential in order to collectively achieve progress and realize social objectives. It was further emphasized that complete agreement on every issue is not always necessary, but that mutual solidarity remains of great importance in achieving shared goals.
His Excellency Mr. Panka endorsed the importance of cooperation and collective commitment. He stressed that sustainable progress for the Afro community can only be achieved when parties are willing to engage with one another, bridge differences, and jointly take responsibility. In this context, he spoke about the importance of reconciliation, letting go of the past as an obstacle, and creating space for a new collective beginning.
In this regard, he expressed the desire to engage in dialogue with like-minded organizations in order to be thoroughly informed about the actions and activities already undertaken, as well as the further process ahead. The Ambassador indicated that the embassy would be willing to further facilitate and guide this process.
The meeting took place in an open, respectful, and constructive atmosphere. The Federation Afro Diaspora Network expresses its appreciation for the warm reception and looks forward with confidence to further cooperation with the Embassy of Suriname.
In addition, the Federation indicated its intention to hold similar meetings with the Ministers Plenipotentiary of Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten, with the aim of further strengthening dialogue and cooperation within the Afro-Caribbean community.
The Federation regards this official visit as a positive step towards sustainable connection, collective advocacy, and the strengthening of the Afro diaspora within the Kingdom and beyond.
